What Is Telehealth?
Learn about the benefits of telehealth
The term telehealth encompasses a variety of services that are provided over the phone or through computers, laptops, or other devices. The many benefits of telehealth services include increased access to care, scheduling flexibility, safety, and comfort.
Starlite Recovery Center is proud to provide three types of telehealth services that can benefit individuals who need treatment, and their loved ones:
- Telehealth assessments, or tele-assessments, allow individuals to learn about the types and levels of care that may be best suited to their specific needs.
- Telehealth programming enables adults to take part in outpatient programming without having to travel to our treatment facility near Austin and San Antonio, Texas.
- Telehealth visitation, or televisitation, connects individuals in our inpatient programs with family members and close friends.
When you choose Starlite Recovery Center for yourself or your child, you can rest assured that your experience, either in person or via our telehealth solutions, will reflect our unwavering commitment to superior service and quality care.
Telehealth Assessments

Completing an assessment is an important step on the path toward improved health. All men and women who receive treatment at Starlite Recovery Center receive thorough assessments to ensure that our treatment team is prepared to provide the focused services that best meet their unique needs.
We now offer telehealth assessments, which are also known as tele-assessments, so you can complete this process without needing to travel to our treatment center near Austin and San Antonio, Texas. If you take part in an assessment that involves the use of videoconferencing software, the process may be referred to as a video assessment or virtual assessment.
In addition to guiding the development of your personalized treatment plan, tele-assessments also provide you with valuable information about the type and level of care that’s right for you.
You can start the telehealth assessment process by contacting us at your convenience. A representative of our facility is available 24/7 to take your call.
In general terms, a tele-assessment is a conversation between you and an experienced member of our team. This compassionate professional will ask you some questions about matters such as your treatment history, the symptoms you’ve been experiencing, and how these symptoms have impacted your life. If you are seeking treatment for your child, you may answer these questions on their behalf.
The professional you speak with will also answer any questions you have about the tele-assessment process, treatment, and related topics. At the end of your discussion, this professional will make a recommendation for the treatment services that best meet your needs or those of your child.
Telehealth Programming

In addition to several residential programs for men and women, Starlite Recovery Center near Austin and San Antonio, Texas, also offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP). IOP can be the optimal level of care for adults who are stepping down from a residential program, as well as those who are entering treatment, but do not require round-the-clock care.
We now offer a telehealth programming option for adults who are accepted into our IOP. This option allows you to participate in telehealth therapy through HIPAA-compliant technology.
As is also the case with individuals who attend IOP sessions in person, those who participate in telehealth therapy can expect to receive focused care in a safe and supportive environment.
Our IOP is led by a master’s-prepared licensed chemical dependency counselor (LCDC) who has personal experience with long-term recovery. Programming at the IOP level includes individual and group therapy, with a focus on real-world barriers to recovery and the development of relapse prevention skills.
The groups you participate in via our telehealth services option may address topics such as the cycle of addiction, defense mechanisms, stages of change, boundaries, and codependency.
Telehealth Visitation

When a client is taking part in residential treatment, staying in touch with loved ones can be a vital source of inspiration and motivation. For this reason, we encourage healthy and productive communication with family members and close friends.
Previously, keeping in touch was limited to phone calls, letters, or in-person visits. We now augment these opportunities with a telehealth visitation service. Also sometimes referred to as televisitation or virtual visitation, this service connects individuals in treatment with their loved ones via a video interface.
If you are taking part in treatment, you’ll be able to see and speak to the members of your personal support network without requiring them to travel to our treatment center near Austin and San Antonio, Texas. If you’re a parent, other family member, or close friend of someone who is in one of our residential programs, our televisitation service provides you with another way to share your support during this important time in your loved one’s life.
